while Euclid fumbled around with his rectangles and triangles. Another tipoff that Euclid had nothing to do with pi: when we met, he did not know the secret Pi signal (two bent knuckles held near the backside of a spoon to reflect a “moon pi”), or the secret Pi sign (three fingers up, little finger and thumb touching, for a “High Pi”), or the secret Pi saying (“. . . what’s the number after the decimal point?”).

However, Euclid did smile brightly when I asked him about the woman in the tub of hot water.
