• In the recent Bland Music Competition sponsored locally by the Rappahannock Lions Club, three RCHS students walked away with honors. Samantha Breeden placed first in the vocal division for her Italian Aria; in the instrumental division Wendy Gillis won the silver award for her piano solo, and Brian Taylor won the bronze award for his drum solo. Congratulations to all of these amazing students!

• The Mid-Atlantic Band Camp at Ferrum College will take place from July 16-20, 2001. RCHS students who have attended in the past have given the experience rave reviews. (Last year’s participants came home and conducted our very own Rappahannock Band Camp for younger students in the county.) The cost of the Ferrum Camp is $240, but well worth every penny according to a number of band members. Mature rising 8th graders, as well as 9th - 12th grade students, are invited to attend. • RCES is happy to welcome back an old friend as part of our continuing Artist in Residence Program this year. Mrs. Margaret Halgren, an incredible watercolorist from the state of Michigan, will visit again to work with our students through the Art department from March 19 through April 6. We will try to keep you informed of her activities while she is here.

• The next Middle School Incentive Party is scheduled for Friday, March 23. Parents, if your child has earned this privilege, please mark your calendars and be sure to send permission for your child to stay for this event.
