Taylor was the district’s top golfer, he nonetheless has positive feelings about the coming year.
“I’m looking for great things. We have a lot of young golfers and I’m looking forward to seeing them develop,” said Oyster.
He is also counting on Taylor’s already developed abilities. He referred to the senior as the “anchor of our team” and his skills as one of the team’s strengths.
Oyster said another plus for the team is the raw potential exhibited by its many ninth and tenth grade members. While some coaches might see his young team as a vulnerability, Oyster feels there is no such thing as a weakness.
“I don’t look at weaknesses. I look at opportunities,” he said.
For him, regardless of whether any of his team members make it to state competition again this year, if personal improvement has been reached, he will deem the season a success.
The team’s remaining practices, and its one home district match, will take place at Jackson’s Chase in Front Royal, a change of venue from last year when the played out of Culpeper.
