He felt it was unfair for the findings to be withheld past the 30-day deadline for the Worleys to file an appeal.
“You promised this would be done,” he said. “You should have had it done. It is a gross dereliction of your duties.”
In other discussion, potential sidewalk construction was addressed by council member Claudia Mitchell and Board of Supervisors representative Bryant Lee.
Mitchell said she had contacted town residents in response to concerns regarding lack of sidewalks in the town. One possible location for additions and repairs is Mt. Salem Avenue.
Mitchell said in her calls to 25 local residents she determined that while many people want sidewalks, there are also many others who are vehemently opposed.
A few residents present at the meeting expressed concern they had not heard from Mitchell during her inquiry into town opinion. She responded that the process is not yet complete, and this had been the first step in determining what the people wanted.
She said additional information will be gathered from a survey being sent to town residents.
Lee added that these are all preliminary steps and that no sidewalk alterations will likely be made for at least a year.
