RCHS golf team tees-off

Special to the Rappahannock News The Rappahannock County High School golf team hit the links in the first two official matches of the season. The Panthers fell to Manassas Park High School in a nine-hole match on Monday, Aug. 11 by a score of 177 to 193. In an 18-hole match on Wednesday, Aug. 13 the Panthers shot a 414 and fell to Strasburg High School which shot a 359. In Virginia high school golf, each team fields six starters with the lowest four marks from each squad used to calculate the final scores. Brian Taylor of RCHS finished strongly in both matches, leading all competitors with an overall low score of 41 in the Manassas Park outing and placing a close second (87) to the lowest score (84) against Strasburg.
