Virginia attempts to ensure children receive a high quality of education if home-schooled and clearly state its monitoring processes.
Tb qualify to teach, parents must either be a certified teacher, hold a bachelors degree, enroll the child in an approved correspondence course or present their self- developed curriculum for evaluation. A letter must also be presented to their school’s Superintendent stating their intent to home-school their children.
Children’s progress is then evaluated annually. The Virginia Department of Education states parents must present an evaluation or assessment of some sort yearly, or provide the school with the child’s score on a composite test approved by the Boanl of Education.
