Timbers explained the high cost of the project is due to the angle and distance of the lens in relation to the screen.
“This is going to be an expensive upgrade,” she said, “but we’re going to have to do it.”
Timbers said it will be difficult for the organization to come up with the money needed to upgrade. She explained that RAAC sponsors many events, including Friday night at the Library, and Colonial Christmas, as well as cosponsoring numerous others with Hearthstone School and Headwaters. The only program RAAC makes money off of though is Colonial Christmas, Timbers said.
“For us to commit $10,000 to do this is difficult,” she said.
Timbers says while upgrades are necessary, movies will continue until funds have been raised. She feels this is important.
“It provides local entertainment. We are showing movies that are not typically shown outside the D.C. area.”
She said these films are generally famiiy-oriented and sometimes foreign.
