Charles Augustus Wood, 76, of Boston died Aug. 11 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 26, 1913 in Washington, D.C. to the late Sydney Archer Wood and the late Edna Elizabeth Boger Wood.
Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member and present commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2524 and past member of the honor guard.
Mr. Wood was a member of the Rappahannock Lions Club and a member of St. Luke’3 Lutheran Church. He was formerly employed with the Rappahannock Co-op and currently employed with the Oasis CD Duplication.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet S. Wood and one sister, Dorothy Harty.
Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters, Gail B. Filyo of California, Md., and Peggy M. Wood of Gaithersburg, Md., and one son, Charles A. Wood Jr. of Laurel, Md.
Additional survivors include one grandson, and six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Sydney Archer
