Thfee generations of an Amissville family made a grand sweep of prizes at the Prince William Fair held last week in Manassas. Mrs. Paul Poling (Gertie) took first place with an applehead doll and a pecan pie. She ranked second with a music box egg and third with a decorated egg, peach pie and pepper relish.
Mrs. Poling’s father, Henry Lillard, formerly of Rapidan and now making his home with the Polings, placed third with a wood carving.
Her daughter, Cheryl Poling Taylor, captured first place and best of show in the pottery division with a jug made from the coil technique, and took first on a double spouted jug made from the slab technique. Another daughter, Mrs. Judie Graham, now living at Bristow, received second place on a jewelry box egg, an egg with doors and a music box egg.
Mary E. Snead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rayner V. Snead of Fairlea Farm in Washington, has been named to the Dean’s List at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. Miss Snead attained a 3.5 semester grade point average or better on the school’s
