Officials hope to run Saturday

Though Monday’s snow came fast and furious, Rappahannock Hunt master Oliver Brown says the weather will not stop the Saturday races.

“We’re ready” with tractors for clearing the Bleu Rock Inn course and to pull spectator vehicles into — and out of — the Rappahannock County venue.

The March 5 races could be the second of the nascent season to be affected by late winter weather; the Feb. 26 Casanova races were delayed one day and entries diminished when footing came up soft on alternate race day, Feb. 27. But the Bleu Rock course near Washington, Va. is well-drained, Brown said, and footing should be good.
