Legislative attempts to let small farmers sell cheese made from raw milk died in the Senate twice.
First, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources rejected Delegate Albert C. Pollard’s bill, which would have allowed farmers to sell uninspected products to nearby residents as long the buyers were aware of the risks.
Pollard, D-White Stone, had introduced House Bill 2903 at the request of goat farmers. New state regulations prevented them from selling unpasteurized milk and cheese made from it. State health officials said raw milk can make people sick; however, many farmers said such prod
