Nia combines nine movement forms including three from dance, three from martial arts and three from the healing arts.
For dance, the movement is modem dance, jazz and Duncan dance, offering an emotional release.
As for the martial arts, Nia movement involves tai chi, tai qwon do and aikido.
Lastly, movements from the healing arts include yoga, Feldenkriais—early development and natural movement patterns, and Alexander—leading the body movement with the head.
