Bids & Proposals RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS RENOVATIONS AND ADDITIONS WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA STATE PROJECT NO. 78-24C (RCES) STATE PROJECT NO. 78-23E (RCHS) Architect: Oliver, Webb, Pappas & Rhudy, Inc (540) 552-2151 INVITATION TO BID The Rappahannock County School Board, Rappahannock County, Virginia, hereby invites General Contractors to bid on a general construction contract for the Rappahannock County Schools Renovations and Additions. The project generally consists of 55,000 Sq. Ft. of mechanical and electrical renovations and 4,300 Sq. Ft. of building addition as well as a new separate 9,300 Sq. Ft. auxiliary gymnasium on site. In addition, the project includes approximately 8,500 Sq. Ft. of Gym HVAC renovations at the nearby Rappahannock County Hiqh School and upgrades to the high school track and field area. - Sealed Bids (NO FAXES) shall be received until 2:00 P.M. local prevailing time on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in the Conference Room of the Rappahannock County School Board Office, 6 Schoolhouse Road, Washington, VA 22747, at which time they will be opened publicly and read aloud. Bids received after this time will not be accepted All interested parties are invited to attend. • Drawings and specifications may be examined starting Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Office of the Architect/Engineer, the Rappahannock County School Board, and at the following locations: Dodge rooms in Roanoke. Richmond, McLean; the Virginia Dept, of Minority Business Enterprise in Richmond; Valley Construction News in Roanoke and Richmond, Reed Construction Data in Richmond. Prime Contractors and all other subcontractors and material suppliers may obtain drawings and specifications upon deposit ofd $150.00 per set at the office of Oliver, Webb, Pappas & Rhudy, Inc., 200 Country Club Drive, Plaza 1, Building E, Blacksburg, Virginia 24060, in accordance with the Instruction to Bidders. Prime Contractors and all other subcontractors and material suppliers may obtain refund of $125.00 per set by retumingsets in good condition no more than fifteen (15) days after bids have been received. Those who return documents after fifteen (15) days shall forfeit their deposit. The successful Prime Contractor may obtain refund of $125.00 per set without having to return sets. • Bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee of not less than 5% of the amount of the bid, which may be a certified check or cashier's check, or a bid bond of 5% of the amount of the bid, made payable to Rappahannock County School Board. A performance bond and a material and labor bond will be required and the cost shall be included in the bid price. Bidders are required under Title 54.1, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, to be licensed as a Class A Contractor" before submitting a bid of seventy thousand ($70,000) dollars or more. Each Bidder will be required to give their State Registration Number on their proposal. All non-resident contractors and subcontractors bidding the work described herein shall register with the Department of Labor and Industry under the provisions of Section 40.1-30 of the Code of Virginia. • A pre-bid conference will be held in the Rappahannock County Elementary School Cafeteria, Washington.
