She has no fear of the Virginia legislature because she says nothing is going to stop her from drinking her milk. “Those who fear losing the right to buy raw milk fear something they have already lost,” Heidi explained. “They are going to have to have courage and find a way to acquire the raw milk they seek.”
Dairy sharing
Currently the only way to legally obtain raw milk in the state of Virginia is by joining a “Cow-Share Program.” Each member owns a share of the cow and can then legally obtain their raw milk.
Whether you choose to stick with consuming commercial milk or the idea of drinking raw milk has piqued your interest there is one thing you do not have to fear and that is the taste.
According to several local Rappahannock residents, it is rich and creamy, it goes down easily and as to date, none of those asked, has experienced any ill effects from drinking it. •
