in California, the Kellerts use a slightly different filtration system from other local wineries.
At Gray Ghost, the filtration system is a pharmaceutical filtration, bringing out the fruit character of the wine more boldly than traditional filtration systems.
In California, this system is generally used only for their premium wines.
However, the Kellerts believe it makes a much better tasting wine, therefore they have incorporated the system for all of their production.
For the Kellerts, their dream has come true, establishing a bonded winery as well as a career with the entire family being a major part.
They have also found a home in Rappahannock County. As A1 Kellert said, “When you come across the mountain, it is like you are in heaven.”
