Poem encourages
county-wide cleanup I began my day in the usual way, waiting for someone to pick me up, I may be a soda, a bag of chips, or hot coffee in a styrofoam cup. Someone finally paid my way and carried me to a car outside, then they unwrapped me or maybe popped my top, I felt like a blushing bride. When they were thru I could plainly see I had satisfied their every need, but what came next I could not expect an act of such ignorance and greed. Instead of holding me for just a little while until I could be put in my proper place, they rolled down the window and tossed me out, it was equivalent to a slap in the face. A soda bottle, an old chip bag, or perhaps an empty styrofoam cup, just an eyesore on a lonely road, waiting for someone to pick me up. Mark Raiford Amissville
