Nineteen-year-old Justin Vittitow grew up in Chester Gap.
Eight months ago he moved to New Orleans with his band mates and fellow Rappahannock residents Paul Clowes and Thomas Furtado. Eleven days ago he and his band mates made it back to Chester Gap.They escaped New Orleans a day before Hurricane Katrina destroyed it, finding shelter in a WalMart parking lot in Lafayette, Louisiana. They traveled back with Justin’s parents Jim and Montse Vittitow, and they all saw first hand the effects of the disaster in the Gulf Coast on the surrounding states.
