Glock, an Austrian manufacturer that has only been making guns since 1986, is now the biggest handgun manufacturer in the world. While familiar to the public from lurid news stories about plastic guns and armor piercing supposed copkiller bullets, Carter remarked that 73 percent of law enforcement officers use Glocks, “because of their reliability, dependability and ease of maintenance.”
“They are popular because of their just stupid dependability and simplicity,” continued Carter, “and because they have a very large variety of calibers and models.” And, Carter noted, the controversial bullets aren’t sold anymore.
