Twins? Lookalikes?
Jockeys Gregg Ryan, left, and Xavier Aizpuru are splendid in silk awaiting a steeplechase last fall. Though their silks appear identical, there are minor differences clear to the trained eye.
Note that though both sets of silks are light blue with dark blue “cross-sash,” Aizpuru’s silks include two hoops on each sleeve. Tbo, their caps are different colors — Ryan wore a white cap cover to Aizpuru’s blue one to aid race announcer, and placing judge, identification. Mounted, as they were, on tall bay Thoroughbred geldings, the silks’ differences are difficult to discern at 30 miles per hour.
