“Dear Frankie,” a film “Rolling Stone” calls “funny and touching,” is a romance about getting a second chance. It is the winner of numerous awards including Best International Feature Film at the Los Angeles Film Festival and Best Film from the US in the Montreal World Film Festival. The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is pleased to show this critically acclaimed film on Friday, September 23rd at 8 p.m. as part of a Film Festival beginning that evening and continuing the next morning from 10-noon.
RAAC is proud to have Patti Bellantoni, author and professor at the American Film Institute in California, come from Los Angeles to introduce this film and lead a discussion afterwards. Roger Ebert gives “Dear Frankie” two thumbs up and four stars.
Nine-year-old Frankie and his single mom, Lizzie, have been on the move ever since Frankie can remember, most recently arriving in a seaside town in Scotland.
