They’d better start running now to keep up with legendary Hall of Fame jockey, and Virginia native, Jerry Fishback, center, above. Riding from 1964-1985, Fishback won 301 races and more than $1.5 million aboard such legendary ’chasers as champions Flatterer, Cafe Prince, Straight and True, Shadow Brook and many more. He was leading rider in 1971, 73, 74, 75 and 77. In photo above, successful amateur Paddy Young, by comparison, has ridden in the U.S. since 2003 with 14 wins and nearly $300,000 in earnings. He rode timber champ Bubble Economy last season.
