the meeting im Gannon is a self starter, a businessman, a motivator, an ex-editor, an author, a father, husband and friend and a guy who cares about his fellow , man. Within the last tew weeks , he has been orchestrating a community-wide effort to help with victims of Hurricane Katrina. Tbmorrow night there will be a public meeting at the Rappahannock County Library starting at 7:30 p.m. where representatives from several churches and interested other community members will gather to share ideas on how this county can best help. Perhaps it will be with housing. Perhaps it will be with fund raising. Perhaps adopting a family or families. It's easy to pretend that this isn’t our business because it didn’t happen in our backyard. It’s also easier to talk about something rather than do something. While Gannon is presently leading the charge, it’s only because he’s that kind of guy - focused, energized and ready to do the right thing. It’s not about him. It’s about who he is trying to help. And hopefully as the nation rallies to reach out their hands to those in need, this county will join those hands and help in a way that goes beyond our pocketbooks.
