Up, up and not away
It was a disappointing Sunday morning (September 4) for Phil Inwin, owner of Caledonia Farm in Flint Hill. Phil had intended to treat his guests to a hot air balloon ride but the winds would have it otherwise and the balloon was not to rise. Caledonia Farm is celebrating 20 years as the oldest and continually owned and operated bed and breakfast in Rappahannock County. Big on preservation, Phil has systematically put all of his current 115 acres into scenic easement. He pioneered easement efforts in the State of Virginia by being one of the first landowners to do so more than thirty years ago. While somewhat deflated, Phil hasn’t given up. “Come back for our 40 year celebration, we’ll go sailing,” announced Irwin as the trees bent in another gust.
