1989 Winants authored the biography of steeplechase champion Flatterer, published by the Chronicle of the Horse. Derrydale Press published .Winants’ “Steeplechasing: A Complete History of the Sport in North America” in 2000 and “Foxhunting with Melvin Poe” in 2002.
“The Sporting Art of Franklin B. Voss” is Winants’ fifth book. Winants resides in Rectortown with wife Maiy.
A book-signing and informal discussion of the Voss book will be held at the Sporting library on Sept. 22. The free event begins at 7 p.m.
Also at the library will be an Oct. 13 book-signing by Orlean author and news writer George Rowand who will sign copies of his first full-length took, “Diary of a Dream: My Journey in Thoroughbred Racing.”
