respectively. Rappahannock’s score was greatly aided by the efforts of Alex Ramey, who came in 2nd overall, and his teammate and fellow junior Josh Mackela, who finished 3rd. This is a pattern that first became evident in the Panther’s last match, in which Ramey finished first with Mackela finishing 2nd behind him.Although the RCHS Girl’s cross county hasn’t had the numbers this season to field a full five person team, they refuse to be shown up by their male counterparts. Junior Mandy Smoot finished 1st overall for the women, and teammate Claire Westbrook was impressive as well.
“She had a real gutsy finish,” said Coach Dave Gillis “a full 300 yard sprint at the end.”
The RCHS Panthers host a cross country tournament for the Bull Run district at their track behind the Bleu Rock Inn on September 13 at 5:00.
Golf: Close loss
to Mustangs
The RCHS golf team lost a close match at home to George Mason High School 175179.This is their second loss to the Mustangs this season. The Panthers face Strasburg High School at Jackson’s Chase Golf course in Fron t Royal on September 13 and will go against Luray at Bowling Green on September 15. The Panthers defeated Luray in their August 30 match-up.
