Dan is now a member of the school board representing the alumni. He is also chair of the building committee, and is in the process of adding a new classroom building to the school. “It’s nice to remain active in my children’s education and be involved with the school,” Dan said.
Dan and his wife Janet have three other children attending Wakefield Country Day School, Emma, will be in 11th grade, while Anna will start 4th grade. Their youngest daughter Lucy, will start Kindergarten this Fall.
“That’s not counting our foreign exchange kids,” Dan added with a laugh. For 10 years the Clarks have been accepting foreign exchange students that come to Wakefield in need of a Rappahannock host home.
After hosting foreign students themselves, Janet works with local families finding other places for them to stay.
Ben was the first of the Clark children to graduate from Wakefield. Grove commented that Ben, like his father, volunteered his time on numerous occasions assisting with school programs.
“Ben was particularly attuned to evaluating the traditions of the school,” Grove added, “I think he felt a great sense of heritage.” Ben will be going to Roanoke College in the fall with a $32,000 merit scholarship. Hfc is planning to study business.
