July 14: Take me
out to the ball, game!
Rappahannock County has an American Legion Baseball team. The team consists of players from Rappahannock, Culpeper and Luray. The team is affiliated with the Culpeper American Legion Post 330. The schedule started on June 17th and ends on July 22nd, they have played several teams including Fauquier, Front Royal & Harrisonburg. They have two more home games scheduled, one on July 14th at 5:30 pm and the other July 16th at 2 pm. All the games are played at the field behind the Rappahannock Elementary School. Admission is free and there is a concession table.
July 15: Book signing at Old
Sperryville Bookshop
Local author James Russell will be at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on Saturday, July 15th from 3 p.m to 5 p.m to sign copies of his newest book, Resting Rock. Davette Leonard, the book’s illustrator, will also be at the event. The public is invited to stop by anytime between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m to meet them. Resting Rock and Mr. Russell’s first book, Beyond the Rim, as well as photographs of Mr. Russell by Ray Boc will be available for sale and signing. The event is free. Located on Main Street in Sperryville in an old Episcopal church, the Old Sperryville Bookshop hours are Fridays and Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 11-5.
July 15: Old Rag Wine
and Music Festival
Come join us for our Old Rag Festival on Saturday, July 15 from 2-8 p.m. And enjoy the award winning improve music of Jasbn Ring. A multifaceted artist, his “Flaming Fingers” are guaranteed to captivate and astound you. Jason Hails from Southwest Va., and will entertain us with bluegrass, jazz, blues and ragtime. Bring a blanket, enjoy the views of Old Rag, and spend a spring day in the vineyards. Admission is $10 and includes a wine tasting, a glass of wine (keep the glass), and music. Gourmet food will be available and they will also have a raffle £>r a night in our B & B cottages and other goodies.
July 15: Greg Lygon to perform
Contemporary folk singer and songwriter Greg Lygon will be making a return appearance in the Warrenton Borders’ Cafe Saturday, July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Lygon also incorporates jazz riffs and a popular music sense of melody into his haunting music.
July 15: The Bluemont
Concert Series
The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present the Daryl Davis Band on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m., for the fifth of ten Saturday evening performances in downtown historic Warrenton. Plan to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. A local community group will provide homemade refreshments as a fund raiser for its program. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held at the Taylor Middle School auditorium.
