The sun shown brightly and gave off a hazy, sheer looking light as the afternoon began to fall into evening, where on Miller Field in Sperryville, the Culpeper-Nationals All-Star team prepared to make a run at the state championship in St. Paul, Va. And why not? They are already the reigning Little League District 14 champs, winning the championship game in a four-inning slaughter rule annihilation of Orange County 20-1 in the All-Star Softball Tournament.
“We just got hot with the bats and the girls did a great defensive job out there,” said coach Larry Settle. Hot would be an understatement, these girls are good.
