water source. The conservation agreement ensures that practices implemented by the family in order to safeguard water quality, including riparian buffers and filter strips, will be maintained, protecting the stream from siltation and agricultural runoff.
Meanwhile the continuation of agricultural best management practices will help ensure that the soils on the Meadow Grove Farm, over 42 percent of which are listed as prime agricultural soils of national or state significance, are preserved as a resource so future farmers can continue to produce food and maintain the county’s ability to support an agricultural economy.
