VACo received 41 entries from 20 counties. Tedd Povar, associate director of the Virginia Institute of Government; Ellen Davenport, assistant vice chancellor of the Virginia Community College System; and Kandy Hilliard, former Stafford County supervisor, served as judges for this year’s statewide awards program.
The VACo Achievement Awards is a competitive program open to local government members of the association. Held annually, it recognizes local government programs in nine categories. Awards criteria include innovation, collaboration and model practices.
The award-winning submissions will be displayed and representatives from each of the counties will receive a certificate at an official ceremony during VACo’s 2006 Annual Conference in November.
