and Amanda Smoot, will give Rappahannock some solid outside shooting possibilities. Vest and Sarah Smoot played in nearly every varsity game last year. Amanda Smoot was one of the top junior varsity players.
Jenkins rounded out her roster with senior exchange student Soumaya Berrozzouk.
Despite having the best season in girls varsity basketball in many years last year, Jenkins did not see the number of girls trying out increase. That could be a problem if the players got into foul trouble.
“Not having fresh legs is going to be a problem, Jenkins said, “so well be substituting Sarah and Amanda in a lot.”
What does benefit the Lady Panthers is their conditioning. Tupper, Hutcheson, Johns, Vest and Carter all played on Rappahannock County’s statequalifying volleyball team this fall.
“Their conditioning is definitely a plus for me,” Jenkins said.
The Lady Panthers opened their 2006-07 season Wednesday night against Luray. They will play visiting Brentsville District Friday night.
