clerk reportedly saw a person pacing in the parking lot near the store; that person is thought to be the same masked offender.
According to ABC, the clerk made “visual contact” with the robber before he entered the store. Details of the interaction have not been released. All ABC stores have surveillance cameras, but the public affairs office would not say whether the incident was caught on video.
A vehicle was identified leaving the scene of the crime, though Spotsylvania authorities are not releasing that information, according to the ABC public affairs office.
Following the robbery, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said they had the FBI create a composite sketch of the suspect and distributed it to other ABC stores. After Harris made a purchase at an ABC store in Warrenton, his license plate number was reported to authorities by a store employee who thought he resembled the sketch.
The clerk from the Fredericksburg ABC store then picked Harris out of a photo lineup, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office. Smith said photos used in such procedures are obtained either from arrest records or from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Harris said the photo on his driver’s license is three years old.
