Wakefield Country Day School’s Male Athlete of the Month for October is Pablo Solans-Corvinos. Mr. Solans-Corvinos is a senior forward on the WCDS boys’ varsity soccer team and a native of Spain who is attending Wakefield Country Day School at Huntly this year. In congratulating Mr. Solans-Corvinos for being named male athlete for October, Athletic Director Mike Kenney described his solid performance throughout the month. “Pablo scored two goals in the WCDS 3-1 soccer win over Massanutten Military Academy and followed that up with a two-goal performance against Fireside Christian Academy. Solans-Corvinos also recorded six goals and two assists in October.”

Wakefield Country Day School’s Female Athlete of the Month for October is Taylor Hammelman, a junior. Ms. Hammelman, a midfielder for the WCDS girls’ varsity volleyball team, led the Owls to a near upset of previously undefeated Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy. According to Athletic Director Mike Kenney, “Taylor spearheaded a late comeback win over Colonial Beach, and she played solidly during the entire month, as the Owls split their eight October contests.”
