One can hardly describe the changes made there: where there was a field of corn, a few wooded acres, a large fish pond, houses, large and small, hills and creeks...there are now miles of runways, taxi strips, and a huge terminal building taking shape with acres of black topped parking facilities. As we neared the terminal building to look around, a guard told us that we could look but could not go inside. I glanced at his sleeve patch which said Eagle Detective Agency and then at his bar pin bearing his name which was George R. Jenkins. He looked familiar and upon asking if he was related to the Rappahannock Jenkins, I realized that the name had buffaloed me because up here we call him Raymond. Yes it was Rappahannock Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs.George W. Jenkins in F. T. Valley. His wife is the former Elizabeth Vemer of Washington. Mrs. Vemer is staying in Manassas with them since her release from the hospital and it was good to hear first-hand that she is getting along very well. From there we drove around the runways and headed to the place where the mobile lounge was parked. At about that point, a policeman drove up and was about to tell us to scram, but a National Editorial Association Card convinced him that it was all right to let us stay.
