And while he switches up the types of entertainment techniques he presents for the sake of returning students, he says he does emphasize a few of the same basic pointers each year. “We heavily discourage people from trying something for the first time when they’ve invited guests,” he said a tone that stressed the seriousness of the matter. More gently: “We suggest setting aside a day and each week making the same three dishes until you can make them in minutes, and they’re always wonderful. They’ve become part of your repertoire. It takes all of the fear factor out of entertaining, and then you can branch out.” Tickets for the cooking class are $85 per person; proceeds will benefit the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community.
