Hearthstone School will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar in its Community Room from 10 a.m. until 6 p m. This is a great opportunity to pick up fun and interesting Christmas gifts, including hand-crafted items, candles, art, pottery, jewelry, photography, handmade baskets, Hearthsong toys, books, ornaments, homemade desserts and baked goods, and much more. Dec. 2: Gadino Cellars Barrel

Tasting & Local Beef Pairing

Take a break from the holiday hype to participate in a unique wine experience at Gadino Cellars in Washington, Virginia (www.gadinocellars.com)! Winemaker Bill Gadino will preside over a barrel tasting of the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Me riot, with explanations and diversions on the production of these complex wines from the blockbuster 2005 harvest. He will also “thief barrel samples of the promising 2006 vintage Merlot as a comparison to the almost finished 2005 wines above. The wines will be accompanied by hors d’oeuvres to include Mt. Vernon Farm's lamb and beef samples. These local meats are grass-fed and organically raised. Their flavor is superb, (www.mountvemonfarm.net).

The day will include a one time only “Case futures” sale (18% discount - 2 case maximum) for the 2005 Meriot and Cab - these wines are currently planned for release in the Feb-April 2007 time frame. If the mood strikes you to get some shopping done, affordable gifts for your wine-loving friends (like wine-related jewelry, t-shirts) can also be found. Dec. 2: Biscuit Burners

. Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. The Biscuit Burners bring their fiery mountain music to Highland School’s Center for the Arts. The group hails from the hills of North Carolina and has established itself as the hottest new bluegrass group around. Their debut album was among the top ten bluegrass albums of 2004, and their song “Come on Dartin’” was the iPod Hot Pick Bluegrass song of the year. Dec. 2/3: For homeless cats

Piedmont Feline Rescue, which provides shelter and medical care for homeless cats in Rappahannock County, will be holding a bake sate on Sat. & Sun, Dec 2 & 3 at Talk of the Town on Gay St. in Washington.
