You get the feeling he’s not joking when the proprietor of a world famous five-star restaurant and inn says, “People are astonished sometimes at what we have to teach them.”
The once yearly cooking courses offered by Inn at Little Washington chef Patrick O’Connell are $85 worth of holiday food preparation and entertainment techniques, something he and establishment co-owner started up four years ago in coordination with the Tbwn of Washington, Va. O’Connell explained that the hour-long courses are part of a larger initiative to draw guests to the town throughout the month of December.
“The town has collectively been working together to generate some interest in people coming here to shop in a wonderful setting without the typical stress of the season,” said O’Connell. “It’s terrifically old-fashioned, kind of like a movie set.”
