Dec. 12: DAR meeting

The monthly meeting of the of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the NSDAR will be held a* the Culpeper County Library on Tuesday, the 12th. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. The program: "Christmas in Colonial America" will be presented by Jane Kearns and other members. (Members are asked to bring a Christmas ornament to exchange.) Hostesses will be Ann Markham, Sandra Stowe and Jane Volchansky. The chapter is comprised of residents of Rappahannock, Culpeper and Madison Counties.

Dec. 12: Grief Workshop

Hospice of the Rapidan will offer a free workshop for people who are grieving the loss of a family member, loved one or close friend this holiday season. Participants may choose between two sessions on Tuesday, Dec, one in the afternoon from 2-3:30 p. m. and one in the evening from 7-8:30 p. m. Both will be held in Hospice of the Rapidan's Community room at 1200 Sunset Lane, Suite 2320, Mulberry Commons, Culpeper. Pre-registration is appreciated but not necessary. Dec. 13: Winter concert

At 7 p.m. at RCHS. Come and enjoy the wonderful music of the RCHS Concert Band and RCHS Jazz Ensemble in a program of great music. For information call Kathryn Treanor at 937-5794.

Dec. 13: Band’s holiday trays

Preceding the RCHS Panther Band’s Winter Concert, on Wednesday, December 13th, guests will be able to browse, and buy chances on, an array of generous holiday trays (and baskets and bags) of items arranged by theme. Themes include coffees, movie night, car care, chocolates, bath-and-body, Italiano, relax with a cup of tea, curl up with a good book and so many more. Arrive early, so you’ll have time to consider them all! The trays make great gifts for your holiday giving while supporting our amazing band program. Dec.13: Nonprofits Lunch

The Rappahannock Nonprofit Center will be hosting the second luncheon in the Winter luncheon series on Wednesday, December 13, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. These meetings provide nonprofits an opportunity to network, discuss concerns and issues they are facing, and to share information and resources they hpve found to be helpful. RNPC will be providing soup. Come and join us at our new office space at 12018 B Lee Highway, below Antique Tables Made Daily, formerly Rae’s Place. Dec. 13: Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance board meeting

Open to the public. Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec.13, at 5 p. m at 12018B Lee Highway, Sperryville.

Dec. 14: Holiday homes tour

The Francis Fauquier Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas tour of homes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. Four homes are on the tour, which benefits the club's high school scholarship program and community beautification projects. Advance tickets are $15 and may be purchased at G Whillikers Toys, at Designs by Theresa, or at the Town Duck. On the day of the event tickets are $20, or $5 for each home. Dec. 15: Tuxedo affair

The Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a gala affair on December 15 at the Fauquier Springs Country Club. The event, dubbed the Black Tie Crystal Ball Soiree, will not only delight its participants with music, dancing, fine dining and an exciting auction, but will also help raise funds for this vital community organization. Attendees can look forward to live music, provided by the 20 piece St. Thom Cats band. Tickets may be bought individually or by the table. Individual tickets are $250.
