The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is having its annual dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The cost for adults is $12 each and children 6 to 12 years just $6; five and under eat free. On the menu are country ham and turkey and vegetable and desserts - a variety of delicious homemade sweets. For more information phone the fire company at 937-5125.
Dec. 2: “Art from the heart” show
Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) is hosting its 5th annual “Art from the Heart” show on Saturday, December 2. Acting as an “art gallery for a day,” WCDS will provide a venue to admire the works of well-known area artists in a variety of media, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, bronzes and jewelry. This year’s show will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s Leonard M. Cowherd Auditorium. The reception is $50 per person and will include a cocktail buffet, silent auction of professional works, and a half-hour live auction of WCDS student art pieces. Local businesses and other friends of WCDS are invited to participate as patrons or supporters. With a donation of $500 (75% tax deductible), patrons will receive four reservations for the show, beginning with an exclusive patrons champagne cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m., and promotional advertising.
