Hayduk said she loves working with CCI and plans to continue raising puppies in the future, but is not looking forward to turning Katie over for her final training in February. Hayduk said the center holds a ceremony and allows the puppy raisers to see the progress of the labs that graduate from the program, making it easier for those who are giving up the puppies they helped raise.
“It’s so hard - it’s going to be awful’,” Hayduk said. She said that although it will be difficult for her, knowing that she is supporting such a worthy cause makes it worthwhile.
“It’s addictive. I know it’s just going to be one (puppy) after another after another,” Hayduk said with a laugh. She encouraged anyone who is interested to contact the national organization about the puppyraising process, www.canine companions.org.
