I saw my breath for the first time this season last week. And I thought, December?... that’s pretty late for Rappahannock County. Usually we’ve had snow by now! And it reminded me that we are halfway into December, and Christmas is creeping closer!
A few days later I went shopping for a Christmas tree. Not for my house, because now I travel down South for the holidays. Although I miss a tree in my own home; the smell, the lights, the ornaments that have a special meaning from years past, and the tradition of trimming the tree and hanging the stockings together with loved ones, I look forward to driving down to spend the day with my family. And being with my family makes up for it all.
But the tree I was getting that day was for the Tavern, and it was a task. For the first time ever, I was picking out a Christmas tree all by myself.
The first place I went didn’t have any trees. They did last year, but not this year.
