Wrestlers
hit the mats

Rappahannock News Staff Writer
Rappahannock County high School wrestlers went to Swoope, Va. last Saturday, as individual athletes hit the mats to try out their new skills.
“It went well,” ' said Wrestling Head Coach Eric Brown, “What we want for the team right now is mat experience.”
Connor Miller won all four of his matches and was undefeated.
Heavyweight Jeremy Diley also performed well, winning three of his four matches.
“Diley lost to a kid who had a lot of experience,” said Brown, “He was a single-A kid, so he should get another chance to beat him in the district.”
Foreign exchange student Arne Utne wrestled 'or the first time, coming back with a 4-0 record. “He seems to be learning a lot in practice and is catching on quick,” said Brown. Utne also played in the Varsity Football team this fall.
Other competitors included Davy Torrence, who began the season with a 3-1 record, and Will Downing, who stands at 22.
The team will head out to the Harrisburg Christmas Ibumament this weekend. The tournament will include 15 other teams.
“We’re not so much worrying about being a dominant team,” said Brown about his new team. “We are just looking for some mat experience.”
