Maintenance Technician
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking applications for two positions available at the new Claude Moore Recreation Center in Sterling, VA, scheduled to open soon. Positions will conduct inspections on buildings automatic temperature control system, facilities, grounds, vehicles, fitness equipment, pump room and HVAC systems and perform maintenance as needed. Operate machinery, equipment, vehicles and tools as needed. Conduct facility safety checks and inspections. Prepare recreation space for activities including set up and break down of equipment. Perform all custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of the. overall facility. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years related work experience in indoor and grounds maintenance. Strong customer service skills are a must. Requires flexible work schedule to include weekday, evening and weekend hours. Previous experience with electrical, pool, and/or HVAC systems is highly preferred. Valid drivers license. CPR and first aid certifications within 4 months of hire. Requires ability to lift 60 pounds. DMV check. Facility Supervisor
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking applications for a Facility Supervisor position available at the new Claude Moore Recreation Center, located in Sterling, VA, scheduled to open soon. Position will provide facility supervision for participants and renters according to center and department rules and regulations. Provide courteous customer service and front desk coverage. Position will also be responsible for participant registration and assist with center room set-up and clean-up. Scheduled hours vary and include evenings and weekends. Requires a High School diploma. Virginia State Licensing requires additional experience supervising children during recreation or educational activities. Prefer experience working with the public. Must have certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child, and TB test, prior to beginning work. Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background and CPS check.
