Dec. 14: Lantern Walk through Washington

Hearthstone School will hold its annual Lantern Walk through the streets of Washington, Virginia. Students and friends should meet at the fountain across from the Inn at Little Washington at 5 p.m. All community members are invited to participate in this event, which celebrates the return of the sun, as the Winter solstice marks the turning of the year and the slow return to longer days and warmth. Dec. 14: Holiday homes tour

The Francis Fauquier Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas tour of homes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. Four homes are on the tour, which benefits the club’s high school scholarship program and community beautification projects. Advance tickets are $15 and may be purchased at G Whillikers Toys, at Designs by Theresa, or at the Town Duck. On the day of the event tickets are $20, or $5 for each home. Dec. 14: Shooting match

Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company, 596 Castleton View Rd, Castleton will hold its last shooting match of the 2006 season. Practice will start at 6:30 p.m. and shooting will start at 7 p.m. A special match will be held in which a live hog will be the first place prize. Thanks to all who participated this year!
