To the editor:
With such opinion and statements on special education, I’m surprised the Rappahannock School Board members believe in education at all.
As a parent of a handicapped child, I am thankful that the state and federal governments understand the needs of children not as fortunate as the “plain little average child.”
God only knows how the school board members would react if they were to have a child that was diagnosed as disabled or developmental^ delayed. Would they feel that their own child would “amount to nothing?”
Everyday my son is improving. It may take him years before he is able to sit or walk and learn to talk but with these special programs,' at least he and other handicapped children have the chance and hope of becoming' functional people.
