“The general public should be aware that educational funds are going to pay for physical therapy mandated by the state (for special education programs),” remarked board chairman Beverly Massie.
“These aren’t educational benefits.” agreed Stokes.
Not Educational Problems
“Some of the problems that the educational field is having are not educational problems,” Mrs. Massie continued, adding that physical therapy and other special education services would be more suitably provided by agencies and organizations other than school systems.
McDaniel noted that all of the positions included in the six-year plan had been requested by the special education committee in drawing up the' required 6year special education plan. (That plan has already been approved by the school board.)
