A fifteen-hour fire school training program on hazardous materials was held the weekend of March 3 and 4 at the Amissville fire house under the auspices of the Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association. Enrollment was 90 firemen from Fauquier, Culpeper and Orange in addition' to Rappahannock. Instructors were Fire Chiefs Dolezel and Barfield of Chesterfield County.
Training was received on the proper tactics for combating fires originating from materials as propane, heating oils and gasoline. More and more chemicals and fuels are transported by trucks and railroads through communities every day. When traffic accidents occur with vehicles carrying these combustible materials, rural areas will have the knowledge necessary to deal with them.
