Melanie Thornhill of Boston has received the Rappahannock Lions Club Youth Exchange Scholarship for 1979 and will spend a month this summer as a guest in the home of a Lion family in Europe.
Melanie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thornhill, and is a senior at Rappahannock County High School. She will receive $500 from the Rappahannock Gub for expenses.
A group of more than a hundred young ladies and men will leave Friendship Airport on July 5 to spend three days in Paris before departing by train to join their host family in a designated country. Overseas Lions Gubs participating in the exchange program this year are Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, West Germany and England. The visit will end August 9 and Melanie will return to the USA.
