The American Red Cross exists solely to serve others. Its effectiveness is based on the volunteer spirit of local citizens. Volunteers are the heart of the varied Red Cross programs and countless acts of personal assistance which make the Red Cross a true Good Neighbor. But providing these services also requires staff and supporting structure for the army of volunteers who do so much of the work.
While relying on the active involvement of the American people to carry out its programs, the Red Cross is financially dependent on their individual contributions. The minimum regular membership contribution is $1; however, other classes of membership are available for contributions above this level. It is for these types of contributions that Lt.
