Reddy Kilowatt really does need the future rate hikes, the candidates and legislation which the company’s newly' formed political action arm will be pushing.
All of this raises a basic and disturbing question. Why, with its already formidable and highly effective lobby, does the company feel a need at this juncture to plunge openly into politics?
Any answer must be speculative, but one reason could be that already suggested. With the coming shortages of fuels and the rising prices which will inevitably accompany those shortages, there will be a growing public clamor for closer scrutiny and regulation of not only Vepco, but of all utilities.
